Installation Technician
Reports to: Production Director
Place of work: Montreal, International Projects
Objective: The installation technician is responsible for the installation et equipment and systems on a site in accordance with prescribed schedules, budgets, standards and procedures. He or she is responsible for the coordination of activities designed to prepare a site for an installation. He or she is responsible for the testing of systems, equipment and installations that may be provided by sub-contractors.
Tasks and responsibilities:
• Inventory all materials on site and report discrepancies to the project manager
• Install equipment and related materials according to engineering plans and / or procedures prescribed by manufacturers
• Ensure that installation procedures are in accordance with applicable safety standards
• Ensure that work performed by sub-contractors is in accordance with plans and schedules
• Ensure that tools and other materials required to perform an installation are provided and delivered to the site
• Prepare and deliver training (OJT) to specialists as designated by the client
• Establish and maintain a good relationship with workers in order to foster cooperation and efficiency
• Report all discrepancies with respect to the plans
• Prepare progress reports with a clear outline of any timetable discrepancies
• Compile and update a site data log
• Prepare handover documents for the testing and commissioning team
Required qualifications (minimum):
• Electromechanical tehnician or equivalent
• Five (5) years of experience with project installations
• Familiarity with testing equipment: power meters, spectrum analyzer, vector voltmeters, signal generators, etc.
• Familiarity with equipment related to antennae, control towers (fixed and mobile), equipment racks and electromechanical installations
Other skills:
• Diplomacy and tact in dealings with colleagues, hired labour and others who may be delegated by the client
• Ability to work with little or no supervision and under pressure
• Willingness to contribute to the efforts of a team
• Good language skills in English and in French
• Experience with international projects
